Commercial License
Mantis is source-available under the Business Source License 1.1. Most people and organizations may use it for free. This page is the plain-language version of when a for-profit organization needs a paid commercial license, what it costs, and what it includes.

Who needs one
You need a commercial license only if you are a for-profit organization with 25 or more employees (counting full-time staff and independent contractors). That is the only test — no revenue figures, nothing to disclose.
If you have fewer than 25 employees, or you are an individual, an accredited educational institution, or a registered nonprofit, you may use Mantis for free — see the pricing page.
What it costs
One flat annual fee per organization — unlimited targets, nodes, users, and environments, with every feature included. Your band is set by your employee count. Every price is published; you buy the band you fall into.

What it includes
- The right to use Mantis for business use beyond the free line.
- Ongoing development and security updates for the current release.
It is not a support contract. Support today is community and best-effort (documentation and public issue tracker), with no service-level agreement. We do not currently offer paid support, IP indemnification, or compliance attestations.
How compliance works
Mantis never meters your usage, validates a license key, deletes data, or phones home — the source is yours to read and run. Licensing is on the honor system: we rely on organizations, and their own procurement and legal teams, to license correctly. The commercial license agreement includes a standard record-keeping and audit-rights clause; we do not run routine audits.
Each release also converts to a true open-source license (AGPLv3) on its Change Date, so the restrictions are temporary by design.
